ANDREW FREEMAN

California Dreamin'
In November 2005, Andrew Freeman realized a long-time dream by opening Andrew Freeman & Co., a boutique marketing and public relations agency specializing in hospitality and lifestyle clients.

Jsix, San Diego

Prior to opening AF&Co., Andrew worked for the San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants as the Vice President, Public Relations and Strategic Partnerships, building on his previous role for the company as Vice President, Restaurant Sales & Marketing. In his decade with Kimpton, Andrew was responsible for developing and executing all public and media relations activities - including the launch of new properties - for the global brand, the group of 40 hotels and restaurants, as well as for the corporate headquarters. His responsibilities also included strategic planning, outreach, fundraising, relationship development and execution with industry and community partners.

Bright Lights, Big City
Andrew landed his first job in advertising right out of college and was then lucky enough to land a job as the Director of Admissions with the French Culinary Institute in New York. In addition to the school's sales and marketing, Andrew was responsible for launching the student-run restaurant and where he learned what it takes to promote chefs - a special skill in and of itself. His success at FCI helped him score a position as Director of Marketing for the Russian Tea Room, a New York legend. At the RTR, Andrew launched a successful private dining sales effort and opened a cabaret room that quickly became the toast of the town. From there, Andrew went on to become Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing for the renowned Rainbow Room and Windows on the World, where he oversaw the sales, marketing and public relations efforts as well as the launch of the New Windows on the World in 1997, after the Trade Center bombing in 1992.

Andrew's known he was a natural born salesman and promoter since early on, long before he graduated from New Jersey's Montclair State College with a degree in marketing. Today, Andrew sits on the board of the Anti-Defamation League, Dress for Success, Airlines LGBT Advisory Council, and the Richmond Ermet AIDS Foundation, and is a contributing editor to Hotel Executive/Hotel Business Review. He is a former board member of the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau and continues to sit on the marketing committee. He also maintains active involvement with the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Andrew is joined in the office by Tulip and Daisy - the company's four-legged junior executives. When he's not working - you can always find him on a Stairmaster, in a restaurant or at a show.
